Drip Tray Installation Instructions

Tools required:

  • Tape measure or ruler
  • Drill and bits ( 7/8" and 1 3/8" or countersink, and pilot hole)
  • Wrench (1 1/8" or adjustable)

Each drip tray is shipped with a drain piece (4 inch long with ½" NPT threads), nut and gasket. Be sure that you have all the parts before installation. The supplied drain piece will accommodate bar surfaces from 0 to 3" thick. You will also need to supply the plumbing to hook up the drain piece to a suitable drain system.

  1. First locate where the drip tray will be installed. Make sure that there is room for the drain plumbing underneath the bar surface where you plan to install the drip tray.
  2. Once you have determined the drip tray location, mark where the drip tray drain hole will be. The drain hole is typically located in the center of the tray. For the standard drip trays this will be 3" from the front or back edge at a point half way along the length of the tray.
  3. Drill a pilot hole through the bar surface where the drain is located.
  4. Drill a 1 3/8" hole into the top surface of the bar 3/16" deep. An alternative to creating the counterbore is to use a countersink bit to bevel the edge of the hole for the bottom of the drip tray.
  5. Drill the pilot hole out to 7/8".
  6. Place the drip tray on the bar surface.
  7. Put the gasket onto the drain piece and insert the drain piece into the drip tray and through the bar surface.
  8. Thread the nut onto the drain piece and tighten by hand. Use a wrench to tighten the nut another ½ to ¾ of a turn. This should compress the gasket into the drip tray without damaging the gasket.
  9. Inspect the gasket to be sure it is properly positioned between the drain piece and the drip tray. You can test the seal by putting a little water around the drain piece in the drip tray and see if it leaks out.

  10. Connect the drain plumbing to the drain piece and test the drain for leaks.
